The latest news from the Old Pauline Club

January 2017 - Old Pauline Newsletter
Welcome to the January issue of the Old Pauline Club eNews

A very Happy New Year to everyone in the OP community.

As always, the start of the new year gives us the chance to reflect – a look back to some of the milestones in our history: our Founder, John Colet, was born 550 years ago; it is 100 years since the poet Edward Thomas (1894-95) was killed at Arras during WWI; 90 years since John Bell was appointed as High Master; 60 years since the science block was built at West Kensington; 25 years since Stephen Baldock was appointed High Master, and 10 years since the U15 Rugby team reached the final of the Daily Mail Cup at Twickenham.

This year we are looking forward to meeting many of you at another sell out Feast Service at St Paul’s Cathedral, hosting our Annual Dinner at the House of Lords and seeing even more of you back for reunions this Spring.
Careers Fair at SPS: Tuesday 21 March 2017
Share your story with current Paulines

The Careers Department would be delighted to hear from Old Paulines across the broadest spectrum of businesses, sectors and experience who would be willing to spend the afternoon of Tuesday 21 March at the School to chat to the boys about careers. Entrepreneurs, engineers, vets, translators, actors, authors, designers, architects, lawyers, doctors, bankers to name but a few – all are welcome.

OP London

The OP News magazine is seeking new ideas for ways in which to explore and enjoy our great capital city through the portal of Old Pauline tastes and testaments. We would also like to build up a picture of OP recommended sites and services that we could pass on through our magazine and website. After all, the guidebooks can only tell you so much.

Sydney Dinner
Thanks to Freddie Blencke who hosted an Old Pauline and Paulina dinner on 8 December at The Royal Prince Edwards Yacht Club, Sydney. It was a very enjoyable evening. Many different topics were discussed but a particular highlight was hearing about Dick Willis’s experience of the London smog in the 1950s.
