Science Series: Beyond the Heaviside Layer, An Introduction to the Near-Space Environment with Dr Carlos Gane

01 MARCH 2021

7:00pm

Zoom Webinar

Due to popular demand, we are delighted to announce that our Science Series continues in to Spring Term with a talk from St Paul’s School physics teacher, Dr Carlos Gane.

The flow of energy from the Sun to the Earth is often thought of solely in terms of the Sun’s light output that illuminates and warms us. The Sun’s influence on our planet reaches far beyond the visible spectrum, its magnetic properties and particulate output interact with the spheres of the Earth in ways that often go over our heads.

From the northern lights and space weather to the evolution of life on Earth, this talk introduces the regions of space and mechanisms involved in the solar-terrestrial system.
