Spotlight on Sport: Public Sporting Events

24 SEPTEMBER 2020

7:30pm-8:30pm

Zoom Webinar

LBC radio presenter Matthew Stadlen (OP 1993-98) hosts this virtual interview with Nick Bitel (OP 1972-76) and Andrew Castle as they discuss their experiences of staging and partaking in major sporting events including both Wimbledon and the London Marathon.

As well as reminiscing on their career highlights, they’ll examine how such key events in the sporting calendar can bounce back with the ongoing threat of Coronavirus.

Nick was appointed Chair of Sport England in April 2013 following three years as a Board Member. He has been the Chief Executive of the London Marathon, the world’s most successful city centre marathon, since 1995. He is also a sports lawyer acting for a number of major sports events and is a trustee of the Wimbledon Foundation.

Andrew Castle is the Weekend Breakfast presenter on LBC. In 1986 he was ranked the UK’s number one tennis player. Were it not for the pandemic, Andrew would have been part of the BBC tennis team commentating on Wimbledon this summer. He is also a regular commentator for the Aegon Championships, the French Open, Australian Open and the Davis Cup.
