Guild of Mercers' Scholars

Earlier this year four Old Paulines completed their four-year Apprenticeship to their Masters (mentors) and so became eligible to be admitted to the Freedom of the City of London and become Guildmen of the Guild of Mercers’ Scholars in two ceremonies in the Chamberlain’s Court Room and then in the Aldermen’s Court Room at Guildhall.

After enjoying the interesting ceremonial afternoon, which many parents also attended, and later a brief guided tour of Guildhall, most then adjourned to the Bow Wine Vaults to be joined by Jonathan Rennert (1965-69), a Past Master of the Worshipful Company of Musicians, and newly admitted Guildman, for a convivial informal supper and the opportunity to network with the Wardens, Guildmen and Apprentices from some of the other seven member schools that are also in the Mercers’ Company’s educational cluster of schools.
