After a five-year hiatus, a meeting of the Athens branch was long overdue, so they reconnected on two most enjoyable and lively evenings in March.
On Tuesday 18 March, we gathered at the popular Oinoscent wine bar near Syntagma Square. Delicious fare and fine wine were enjoyed, and lively conversation followed. Many topics were covered including fond memories related to our school years, such as rowing and winning the Queen’s Cup, and the Queen’s visit for the 450-year anniversary.
A special thanks to those who attended for the first time, and also to Michael Asher for flying in from Istanbul for the occasion! In the photograph below is (left to right) Matthew Los (1979-84), Alex Tsavliris (2000-05), Christos Mangos (1998-2003), Nicholas and Christos Kehagias (2001-06), Menelaos Pangalos (1979-84) and Michael Asher (1954-59).
A second meeting took place on Thursday 20 March, this time at the newly established Cinapos restaurant in Thissio where more delicious Greek food and excellent Greek wine were enjoyed by those who couldn’t attend on the Tuesday. In the photograph is Manes Pangalos (1980-85), Menelaos Pangalos (1979-84), Bill Mallinson (1965-70), John Beloussis (1966-71), Maria-Thalia Carras (1990-95) and Isidore Caroussis (1996-2001).
