Christmas is a time for fellowship, and Old Paulines are delivering in force.
The Class of 2004 has been meeting for a Christmas lunch ever since leaving school, and this year’s gathering at the Market Porter in Borough marked the 21st year of a tradition that began as a half-joking suggestion: “we should all meet for a lads’ lunch.”
All members of the year are invited and it’s not uncommon for people to reappear after several years’ absence, slipping back into the group as though no time has passed. Despite careers, families and geography having drawn people in different directions, the shared experiences of the early 2000s provide an easy shorthand and a sense of continuity. What began as a light-hearted suggestion has evolved into a meaningful annual reunion, a reminder that friendships forged early can endure, evolve and still yet develop.
