A successful return to play for the OPCC

When the Old Pauline Cricket Club’s season started nothing was quite the same. It was July and there was no shared tea for the players. One thing was sadly very familiar on the first weekend back. It rained.

The OPCC is making up for lost time and continued their shortened ‘Challenge Cup’ season with two excellent, but very different, wins on 8th August.

The 1st XI reduced Old Emanuel CC to 181 all out before falling to 39-5 in their chase thanks to a hat-trick. Will Jarrett and Oscar Dimdore-Miles then put on an unbeaten 145 run partnership to steer the 1st XI to another good win that keeps them at the top of the table (article image shows Will Jarrett and Oscar Dimdore-Miles after their match winning partnership). The 2nd XI batted first against Long Ditton CC at home and scored 233 from their 40 overs, with 50s for James Grant (1990-95) and Ed (Monty) Crichton. A strong bowling performance saw Long Ditton bowled out for 99 with 4 wickets for Rahul Dev (2009-14) and 3 for Hal Stevenson.
