Following on from their AFA Challenge Cup success, Old Pauline AFC were delighted to add more silverware to this season’s haul when they collected the Spirit of Football award at the AFC Award Ceremony at the Kia Oval on Friday 20 May.
The Spirit of Football initiative forms the basis of The FA’s Respect campaign and sees teams assessed by officials and opponents after each fixture for their conduct, adherence to fair play, and sportsmanship. These values are embedded in the culture of OPAFC, who are no strangers to success when gaining recognition from their peers. This was the seventh time the club has won this award since its inception in 2006-07.
OPs Jack Wellby (2000-05) and Harry Browne (2005-10) were on hand to receive the trophy on behalf of OPAFC, before they – and the trophy – headed off to enjoy the club’s own end of season dinner celebrations!
