The Capital Angel Network (CAN) is almost here with CIC registration to go through this week, and a website and formal ‘business angel’ registration process to arrive before the end of the month.
Our first event, with networking and business pitches, will be held at a central London venue on 8 November at 6pm.
A reminder: CAN is an angel investor network made up of alumni from
St Paul’s Girls’ School, St Paul’s and Hammersmith Academy, with other local state schools to follow. As an established alumni community, we have an enviable opportunity to support entrepreneurs from all backgrounds, as well as to ‘give back’ through widening access and increasing bursaries.
CAN will offer founders, alumni or not, access to a network of engaged investors, who are open to providing seed, early-stage or growth capital. These angels will, in turn, pledge to donate up to 20% of related proceeds to support the founding mission of the schools that educated them; namely creating bursaries and opportunities for children no matter their background.
Our overriding goal is to build a virtuous flow of new capital between alumni, businesses and schools to fuel growth and expand access. While we’re at it, however, we also want to create some fun and approachable networking settings for the alumni of all partner schools.
Any business, new or existing, will be welcome to pitch CAN members, so long as they can commit to clear diversity, ethics, inclusion, and sustainability criteria.
Registration details will come in the next newsletter and we look forward to welcoming you to CAN in November.
