Nick Philpot (2000-05), Founder of Yolk, has shared the message below with the Old Pauline community:
“I’m an Old Pauline (class of 2005), and also the Founder of Yolk – where we serve ‘fine fast food’ & speciality coffee. Our belief is that the UK grab-&-go market is dull and flavourless, and that busy consumers are poorly served – so we set out on a mission to change the game.
We serve simple but exciting food, made fresh in open kitchens; we work with great local suppliers; and we apply Michelin-level techniques to elevate classic dishes. Our guests love what we do, and in a disrupted property market, there is a huge opportunity to expand at pace.
Yolk is now at 5 profitable London sites (with run-rate revenue of c.£4m), and we’ve launched a funding round led by Growthdeck. The round will raise up to £1.75m, which will be used to capture an excellent property pipeline & take us to 10+ sites. The round is eligible for investor EIS tax relief, and is due to complete in mid-August 2023.
