On Monday 13 March, Alan Campbell, five-time winner of the Wingfield Sculls and twice-winner of the Scullers Head of the River, also World and Olympic medallist in the single scull, was welcomed to the school to unveil the St Paul’s Post.
The Post marks the halfway point of the Championship Course – the 6.779 km rowing course marked out along the tidal Thames between Putney and Chiswick. It has been used for the Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race since 1845 and, in the downriver direction, for the Tideway heads from November to April.
Mr Matt Smith, President of the St Paul’s School Boat Club, has produced the informative document below that explains more about the Post and the origins of the project.
