Tuesday 23 June 2020, 7.30pm – 8.30pm
The Topical Tuesdays series will see guest speakers from the St Paul’s Community share their take on the current environment. Join Sacha Deshmukh (OP 87-92), CEO of Unicef UK as he talks about what it’s like to arrive in a new job at the same time as the largest ever emergency response Unicef has delivered appears on the horizon.
Sacha Deshmukh will discuss his first months as Executive Director of Unicef UK, starting only three weeks after lockdown was announced. The COVID-19 pandemic is having an unprecedented impact on the lives of children and their families across the globe. The impact of Covid-19 is particularly immense for those already weakened by war, disease, hunger and poverty, whose very survival depends on health care, life-saving food, clean water and medical supplies. Sacha will share how Unicef is on the frontlines of the pandemic, working to limit the spread of the virus, protect keyworkers, and reduce the impact on some of the world’s most vulnerable children and families.
