Forthcoming and past events for US OPs

2023 social events

The Old Paulines and Paulinas in New York organized three events in the first half of 2023: two club lunches and the annual Betsy’s Ball, the February “beat the winter blues” evening get-together hosted by Betsy Morris, wife of the late Jamie Morris (1959-63).

The February event attendees pictured in the photo (front row, left to right): Jashan Ahuja (2003-08), Hostess Betsy Morris, Tamora Rush-Kellett (Old Paulina), guest Lizzie Asher; back row left to right, Simon Strauss (1968-73), Louis a’Brassard (2008-10), Chelsea Tabachnik (Old Paulina), Daniel Ezra (1992-94), Stephanie Connor (Old Paulina), guest Susan York, Robin Hirsch (1956-61).  Not pictured: attendees who had to leave before the photo was taken –  Olivia Krawitt (Old Paulina), Oliver Markson (1995-2000), Ed Pomeroy (1946-51).

In January and June, a dozen Old Paulines, Paulinas and guests gathered for delightful lunches in the grand Main Dining Room at the University Club in New York; sadly we were not clever enough to evade the Club’s photographic restrictions so the participants shall remain unidentified.

Monthly drinks

The OP New York social gurus, led by Jaime Felber (1999-2004) and James Ritchie (2011-16), have organized monthly drinks evenings beginning Wednesday August 9th. There will be a reservation at Jaime’s establishment, Pretty Ricky’s, at 101 Rivington Street, New York NY 10002 at 7pm on the 2nd Wednesday of every month. We will have some space in the main bar set aside for our use and attendees can buy drinks and food from the bar.

We believe it will be best to keep things simple initially to make barriers to entry low and to encourage a strong turnout. Over the first couple of months we can gauge what works well and tweak elements if necessary.

Head of the Charles

We anticipate also being able to announce in July an exciting series of events for OPs in the northeast US in October centered around the “Head of the Charles” rowing regatta in Boston (which takes place October 20th-22nd, 2023), including one or more events in New York. Details to come.
