Old Pauline Club Governance Working Party and Review Established

On 27 November 2020, the OPC Main Committee met to discuss the Club’s Strategy. Six proposals were agreed including that a working party should be established to consider and recommend changes to the OPC’s governance structure.

A total of 69 Main Committee members representing 82% of the total number of members voted on the Governance proposal, which is set out below.

The OPC should set up a Governance working party to consider and recommend changes to the OPC’s corporate status, committee structure and governance by June 2021. The sub-committee should consider, inter alia, the following:

  • Incorporation
  • Change of name
  • The roles of the OPC Main and Executive Committees
  • The establishment of a Nominations Committee that will advise on the appointment of future Presidents, Deputy Presidents, other officers and Vice Presidents
  • Terms of Reference for each of the committees
  • Job descriptions for officers
  • How to encourage much greater diversity across OPC committees and officers

The result of the vote was For: 64 votes, 93% and Against: 5 votes, 7%

The OPC Executive Committee has agreed the members of the working party. It is to be chaired by Nog Norgren (1981-86). Other members will be Nick Brooks (1965-70), Sir Brian Fall (1951-55), Sam Turner (2011-16) and Jeremy Withers Green (1975-80).
